Measurement Procedure

  1. Conditioning: The specimen and standard rubbing white cloth must be conditioned in a constant temperature and humidity environment.

  2. Coverage: When the specimen has multiple colors, ensure all colors are rubbed.

  3. Sampling: If the area of each color is large enough, separate specimens should be taken.

  4. Testing: Cut the specimen and perform dry and wet rubbing tests separately, ensuring all colors are rubbed.

  5. Double-sided: If the front and back of the specimen are made of different materials or colors, both sides must be tested.

  6. Non-repetition: Dry and wet rubbing tests should not be repeated on the same part of the specimen.

Dry Rubbing Procedure

  1. Place the specimen flat on the abrasive paper on the tester, aligning the length direction with the stroke direction. Secure the specimen with the clamping plate, ensuring it is flat.

  2. Fix the standard rubbing white cloth on the finger and clamp it with a spring clip. Gently place the finger onto the specimen.

  3. Ensure the specimen does not slide or wrinkle during rubbing.

  4. Place the finger on the specimen. Turn on the power and press the POWER key. Set the number of test cycles.

  5. Press the START key to begin the test. The instrument will stop automatically when the set number of cycles is reached.

  6. Remove the standard rubbing white cloth and evaluate the rating using the grey scale.

Wet Rubbing Procedure

  1. Completely immerse the standard rubbing white cloth in distilled water.

  2. Remove and squeeze between filter papers to achieve a specific moisture content.

  3. The remaining steps are the same as the dry rubbing test procedure.

Result Processing

  1. Before rating, gently use transparent tape to remove loose fibers from the rubbed white cloth.

  2. Place three layers of unused rubbing white cloth under the tested cloth to be rated. Refer to the standard staining grey scale to evaluate the staining grade.

Measurement Report

  1. Report the standard method used.

  2. Report the dry and wet rubbing results separately.
