Scope of Application

    This instrument is used to determine the volume percentage of oxygen required during the combustion process of polymers. The Oxygen Index (OI) value is defined as the minimum oxygen concentration in an oxygen/nitrogen mixture required to just sustain the combustion of a specimen for a length of 50mm or a duration of 180s after ignition.

Scope of Application

Instrument Features

  1. Touch Screen Control: Features a full-color touch screen. Users only need to set the oxygen concentration value, and the program automatically adjusts to balance the concentration and emits a beep sound, eliminating the hassle of manual adjustment. Supports one-key calibration and data storage.

  2. High Precision Control: Uses a stepper proportional valve to greatly improve flow control accuracy. Features closed-loop control; if oxygen concentration drifts during testing, the program automatically adjusts it back to the target value, overcoming the limitations of traditional testers and significantly improving accuracy.

  3. Built-in Ventilation: The equipment comes with a built-in ventilation hood for automatic smoke extraction.

Note: Oxygen Sensor

  • Introduction: In oxygen index testing, the sensor converts chemical signals from combustion into electronic signals. Similar to a battery, the sensor is consumed with each test. Higher usage frequency or testing materials with high oxygen index values will result in higher consumption.

  • Maintenance: To extend the sensor's lifespan beyond normal wear:

    • Long-term Storage: If the equipment is not used for a long time, remove the sensor and store it in a sealed container at a low temperature to隔绝 oxygen. A simple method is to wrap it in plastic wrap and store it in a refrigerator.

    • Frequent Use: If the equipment is used relatively frequently (e.g., every 3-4 days), turn off the oxygen cylinder first at the end of the day, wait 1-2 minutes, and then turn off the nitrogen cylinder. This fills the mixing device with nitrogen, reducing ineffective reactions between the sensor and oxygen.

  21. Ignition System: Automatic lifting Propane (or Butane) ignition system. The burner is a metal tube with a nozzle (Inner Diameter Φ2±1mm) that can be freely bent. It inserts into the tube to ignite the specimen. Flame length: 16±4mm, adjustable from 5mm to 60mm.

  22. Gas Supply: Industrial Nitrogen and Oxygen, Purity > 99%. (Note: Gas source and connectors are supplied by the user.)

    Tip: Testing requires at least one cylinder each of industrial-grade Oxygen and Nitrogen (purity ≥98%). Due to transportation regulations, these cannot be supplied with the instrument and must be purchased locally. Please purchase from a reputable local gas station to ensure purity.

  23. Power Supply: AC 220V (+10%), 50Hz.

  25. Specimen Holders:

    • Self-supporting: Fixes specimen at the axis of the combustion tube, clamping vertically.

    • Non-self-supporting: Fixes two vertical edges of the specimen on a frame (Optional; for soft materials like textiles).

  26. IoT Functionality: Controls and reads data via router, saves data to PC, and supports report printing.

  27. Thermostatic Base: Controls mixed gas temperature to maintain 23°C ± 2°C.

Installation Requirements

  1. Space:

    • Dimensions: 94 × 72 × 160 cm (including feet).

    • Weight: Approx. 100 kg.

    • Workbench: Length ≥ 1.2m, Width ≥ 0.75m. Exhaust pipe (diameter 10cm) must be connected and led out.

  2. Power: Voltage: 220V ±10%, 50Hz; Power: 150W.

  3. Water: None required.

  4. Gas: Industrial Nitrogen and Oxygen, Purity > 99%.

  5. Pollutants: Smoke/Dust.

  6. Ventilation: Equipment must be placed in a fume hood or connected to a smoke collection and purification system.
