Scope of Application
【Operating Instructions】
Applicable Scope:
This is a specialized testing instrument designed to evaluate the reaction to fire of building materials or products (excluding flooring materials) in a single burning item (SBI) test, in order to determine their inherent physical properties. The apparatus meets the national standard requirements for test conditions and is based on standardized test procedures (methods).
Through testing, the apparatus determines the combustion performance (grade) of the sample, including quantitative and qualitative test parameters: the heat release rate of the sample, whether lateral flame spread occurs, the total smoke production (smoke performance), and whether the sample produces flaming droplets or particles during combustion.
This apparatus features multiple testing functions, providing quality inspection departments and enterprises with a highly cost-effective testing tool.

System Composition and Features:
Introduction to Apparatus Composition:
The DT-1 SBI Test Apparatus includes: a control system, combustion chamber, specimen mounting trolley, burner, flue and exhaust system, analysis and measurement system, and a dust removal device.
Test Principle:
The long and short wing specimens (building materials) are fixed in an L-shape on a trolley. The trolley is pushed into the combustion chamber, and the fan is started. The volume flow rate in the exhaust duct is adjusted to the specified range using a frequency converter. The auxiliary burner away from the specimen is ignited to determine its own heat release rate. The auxiliary burner is then turned off, and the main burner is ignited with the same mass flow rate of gas. Through a 20-minute test, the heat release and smoke production of the building materials are calculated and evaluated, and lateral flame spread, flaming droplets, and particles are observed.
Introduction to Components and Features:
Combustion Chamber: Our company offers two structures for the combustion chamber, allowing users to choose freely. One is a brick-concrete structure, and the other is a steel plate frame structure. The brick-concrete structure is safe, sturdy, durable, has good thermal insulation, and looks neat and beautiful, but it is troublesome to build and inconvenient to disassemble. The steel plate frame structure is easy to disassemble and assemble, but it is less sturdy and durable. Long-term combustion tests may cause heat deformation, poor sealing, oxidation and discoloration of the wall steel plates due to high temperatures, and a shorter service life.
Flue and Exhaust System: This part consists of a gas hood, exhaust duct, measurement duct, exhaust fan, etc. The measurement duct features a double-layer structure with insulation in the middle, strictly complying with standard requirements to ensure the accuracy of data measurement and collection. The data collection section of the exhaust duct is equipped with sensors to measure temperature, light attenuation, O2 and CO2 concentrations, and pressure difference. The collected data is calculated and evaluated. A 5.5 kW centrifugal induced draft fan is used, which fully meets the wind speed and volume requirements for the test.
Combustion System: The combustion gas is high-purity commercial propane. A mass flow controller precisely controls the propane gas supply. Solenoid valves control the delivery of combustible gas. A high-frequency electronic igniter and ignition needle are used for automatic ignition, with an optional flame detector to verify the ignition result. Additionally, the equipment is equipped with sufficient safety measures. First, all combustible gas delivery and control components are configured in a separate, isolated explosion-proof box.
Analysis and Measurement System:
Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide Analyzer: This analyzer is a key measuring element of the apparatus. Its accuracy meets standard requirements. It is directly mounted on the control cabinet, and measurement data is displayed directly on the LCD screen, making it very intuitive and easy to operate. The rear panel is equipped with a dedicated calibration port, making it very convenient for users to perform later calibration.
Pressure and Temperature Measurement: Duct pressure is measured using a pressure transmitter, and duct gas temperature is measured using a thermocouple. An integrated temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure transmitter is used to measure the temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure indicators of the combustion chamber.
Smoke Density Analyzer: This analyzer consists of a light-emitting unit and a light-receiving unit. It analyzes the smoke density in the duct based on how much the emitted light wave is blocked by the smoke in the duct. The analyzer is equipped with a self-calibration program, allowing for calibration at any time to further ensure measurement accuracy.
Control System: Composed of a control desk and a microcomputer system. The entire apparatus is automatically controlled by a computer.
Apparatus Installation Dimensions:
If the dust removal device is placed indoors, the indoor dimensions (L × W × H) should be ≥ 7500 × 7500 mm × 4500 mm; if the dust removal device is placed outdoors, the indoor dimensions (L × W × H) should be ≥ 6000 × 4500 mm × 4500 mm.
